Digital Inclusion A.s.b.l. (gegrënnt an 2016) huet an dësem Kontext de 15. Mäerz eng Aktioun (cf. [3]) lancéiert, fir deene Famille mat Schüler ze hëllefen, déi sech kee Computer leeschte kënnen. Mir verdeelen dofir gebrauchten Desktop Computeren (Windows 10 / macOS, ugepasst un de schoulesche Kontext vum Schüler) déi mir säit 2016 an eise soziale Circular Economy Atelier'en prett maachen. D'Famille kënnen dës Computer halen, an sou och no der Kris e besseren Zougang zur digitaler Welt fannen.
Wéinst dem Confinement schaffe mir an Zesummenaarbecht mam Lions Club Luxembourg Viaduc, hir Benevolle féieren d'Material direkt bei d'Leit heem, ouni physesche Kontakt. Och kann een elo dank eiser Kollaboratioun mam ACL lo 24/7 Laptop'en a Smartphones fir eise Projet spenden, an sou um Projet participéieren. Gläichzäiteg kann een sou d'Ökobilanz vum eegene IT Konsum verbesseren.

Wärend eis aktuell Aktioun sech ëm digital Chancëgläichheet am Kontext vun der Schoul dréint, ass dëst, respektiv déi digital Inclusioun (Fir eng Definitioun vum Begrëff, cf. [4]) an diverse Formen, d'zentraalt Thema vun eisem participative Sozialprojet säit der Grënnung 2016. Dat ëmschléisst d'Chancëgläichheet an allen Aspekter vum digitale Liewen zu Lëtzebuerg: universellen Zougang zu IT Material, Citoyennetéit an Integratioun, Hëllef bei der Aarbechtssich, Konzepter fir eisen IT Footprint ze verbesseren, Educatioun fir 'Digital Skills' an digital Educatioun fir Sproochen ze léieren - Dëst sinn d'Theme ronderëm mir eis Aktioune gestalten.
Ausserhalb vun der Kris schaffe mir an eisem Lokal net wäit vun der Stater Gare, mat engem Team vu 15 Employéen. D'Hallschent vun eisem Team huet ee Background als Refugié, an och ënnert eise Benevole si vill Refugiéen déi ee Bäitrag zu hirer eegener Integratioun souwéi och zur digitaler Inclusioun zu Lëtzebuerg leeschten. Sou hunn mir säit 2016 schonn iwwer 2000 Computeren, déi mer als Don'en kruten, renovéiert an un Leit en Besoin verdeelt. Zousätzlech bidden mir divers Cours'en bei eis un, dëst an méi wéi 10 verschidde Sproochen. Verschidde Cours'en riichten sech allgemeng un Leit déi Aarbecht sichen, anerer sinn spezifesch gemaach fir Leit déi Nohuelbedarf hunn, wat d'Landesproochen souwéi elementar digital Kompetenzen ugeet.
E weidere Volet ass eis direkt Zesummenaarbecht mat Acteuren am Ëmwelt- an Sozialberäich, z.B. Caritas, Croix Rouge, d'Offices Sociaux an de Familljeministère. Sou ënnerstëtze mir si direkt mat Don'e vun eise re-use Computer, oder mir schaffen zesumme bei der Identifikatioun vu Beneficiairen. Och weise mer eis Projet'en aktiv an transparent no baussen, sou wëlle mir och eis Iddien a Konzepter vun der digitaler Inclusioun weider verbreeden, fir dass dës Perspektiv eng fest Plaz fënnt am Sozialberäich zu Lëtzebuerg, an sou all d'Mënsche gläichberechtegt vun den Opportunitéite vun der digitaler Transformatioun profitéiere kënnen.

Digital Inclusion in Times of Corona
With the current homeschooling and the teleworking of many parents, there is suddenly a large demand for access to digital media. While most households in Luxembourg are equipped well digitally, there are also families that have no or not enough computers at home. This has a direct impact on how well the students can participate in the homeschooling. This question of equal opportunity was also raised widely in European media, e.g. in [1] and [2].
On March 15, Digital Inclusion A.s.b.l. (founded in 2016) started an extraordinary action to help those families with students that cannot afford a computer. We are distributing refurbished desktop computers (Windows 10 / macOS, according to the school context of the student) that we prepare for re-use in our community workshops since 2016. The computers are donated to the families, allowing them a better access to digital media, also after the crisis.
Because of the closure, we exceptionally bring the computers directly to the beneficiaries, all without physical contact, thanks the the help of volunteers from the 'Lions Club Luxembourg Viaduc'. It is now also possible to participate and donate laptops and smartphones 24/7 at our new drop-off in collaboration the ACL, the Luxembourg automobile club. This is also an opportunity for the donors to improve their ecological footprint.
... Digital Inclusion Before and After Corona
While our current action in particular aims to promote equal digital opportunity in the context of (home)-schooling, our other activities are all designed around the subject digital inclusion (a term which includes the concept of equal opportunity; for a definition, cf. [4] ) and together form one participative social project. This includes the promotion of equal opportunity in all areas of digital life in Luxembourg: universal access to IT equipment, citizenship and integration, employability, concepts for improving the ecological footprint of our IT consumption, education for 'digital skills' and computer aided language learning. Since our founding in 2016, we design our actions around these subjects.
Apart from the current closure, our team of 15 employees work in our premises, near Luxembourg-Gare. Half of our staff has a refugee background, and refugees also make for a large part of our volunteers. They are working on their own integration and at the same time contribute to promoting digital inclusion for everybody in Luxembourg. Since 2016, more than 2000 donated computers have been refurbished and distributed to those who cannot afford them. We also teach IT classes in over 10 different languages. Some classes are directed to all job seekers and some are specifically designed for people needing help with both the local languages and basic digital skills (cf [5]).
Another part of our work are the active collaborations with social institutions, such as for example Caritas, Red Cross, the 'Offices Sociaux' and the Ministry of Family. This includes delivery of our refurbished computers and smartphones to other projects, and the help of their social workers in the field, identifying beneficiaries in need of IT equipment. Another aspect is the public communication on our project that is very active and open. We aim to inspire the sector with our ideas and concepts around the subject of digital inclusion, and we go forward together towards a society where all people can benefit from the advantages of the digital transformation.
